FEBRUARY ALREADY! Goodness, wasn't January wet?!
February is traditionally supposed to be a romantic month - but so often Valentine's Day gets swallowed up by half term for busy mums and dads and a little gift gets forgotten. Drop by The Surrey Guild of Craftsmen gallery in Milford and you can pick up a long-stemmed felt rose in red or shades of pink or lemon - such an easy (and lasting) way to say you have not let February 14th go by unnoticed. I have some felt heart cards there too!
I hope you have been dipping in to my facebook page
and of course my newer page at
Note: I don't know why this new page has such a long link - but if you leave off the numbers it just displays an error message!
Up to mid March my work will continue to be on sale at The Surrey Guild Gallery, thereafter I am doing so many shows here and there tht I am taking a break from selling there and concentrating on listing instead on
I shall also be running special offers and these will be publicised on the Facebook pages while this website will continue to be somewhere to see representative designs, some being for sale, others not!
Check out hte Fairs & Events page for information about where I will be this spring and summer if you would like to choose work in person. The first of these will be at a new event in Albury, Surrey, on March 18th, and then I will be demonstrating and selling at Craft in Focus at Wisley at the beginning of May.
Of course, if you want custom made baskets or designs in felt, you can still message me via this website.
With new data protection requirements coming into force, please check out my new page on data protection information.
Wet-felting workshops this spring are getting very booked up, largely because I don't timetable them but just agree dates with everyone individually. At the moment I am running
Pods and Pots - producing a bowl or 'pod' big enough to gather small items
Gone to Seed - smaller pods with a seed and tendrils to use as a room scent, and a great introduction to felting with a resist
Fun with Felt Flowers - two felt flower brooches, another great workshop for those relatively new to felting
These classes are 3 hours long (sometimes run over) and cost £40.00 including all materials.
If you prefer working with fabrics, come along with your fabric stash or favourite little girls' dresses and turn them into a useful basket to treasure all those memories.
Memory Basket classes are full days with a lunch-break in the middle or if you want to try your hand just at hand-sewn baskets, there is a 3 hour class, just making them by hand rather than also on a machine. The full-day class is £80.00, half days are £40.00.
The dye is cast!
Last year was largely spent developing my new work in plaster being sold under the name of Charles Cottage Studio (see Facebook page left).
I have thought hard about whether to have a separate website for this work, but for now will be giving it a separate page on this website.
MEMORY BASKETS MADE FOR YOU
If you prefer to have a basket made for you, these can be made to order.
I call these Memory Baskets because they are made of fabrics that mean something special to you. This is a much better way to 'hoard' them, than a box of old clothes!
I can also make baskets in my own fabrics (or a mixture of both) but to match your colour preferences.
Choose a card that's just a little bit different!
The unusual cards below are designed and painted by my son Thomas, who is a research scientist in Australia!
Please email to order - all are £3.00 each or 4 for £10.00 including postage.
Examples of my own cards can also be found on the website and are for sale at The Surrey Guild gallery in Milford until the end of March.
